ABOUT ME

I started my training as a Fine Art student at Wits University from 1989 and 1992. After my studies I was drawn more and more towards Photography as a career, so I began at a prominent studio in Pretoria where I received an in-house training. I worked there for 4 years gaining experience in all fields from weddings to studio, to events and soon became the lead industrial and people photographer for the team of 12.

I then moved back to Johannesburg where I worked for a Homes and Gardens magazine, and then was offered a position at another prominent studio. In 2000 I took the plunge and branched off on my own as a freelance photographer.

I have operated within the Gauteng area since then, going wherever the assignments took me, around the country and into Africa. I have worked for many prestigious companies like Anglo American, De Beers, IDC, SA Taxi Finance, Transaction Capital, Transnet, Momentum and many more. I have also done many weddings including Christian, Jewish, Hindu and Muslim weddings.

Photography has not only become a way of life, but a way of seeing the world around me, and a means of documenting fragments of the visual impressions that the world leaves on my mind. In a way I see photography as a kind of visual diary, documenting my footsteps through time, as well as a discipline of perception, whether it is people, places, or objects.

I have become increasingly fascinated by this world and its fleeting visual impressions and gestures in time, and the power of photography to capture a brief moment in order to convey a mood, thought or action with a potency that goes beyond word or thought ,and a  vital tool for communicating to my personal perspective and experience of what I encounter.
